Clock's ticking, the times they are a-changin', tick-tock… Writing a story about watches offers plenty of room for cheesy time-related puns. But instead of venturing down that road, let's take a moment to focus on the role of timepieces themselves. In a modern era when we all have phones pressed into our hands at all times, it's not that watches are particularly crucial, but they still make a stylish statement (that also happens to be practical).
Watches today carry a certain sense of nostalgia and reverence for the past, and whether you're all about a classic leather-banded style or a smartwatch is more your speed, wearing a watch adds a certain sensibility to your style. So with the spring equinox quickly approaching, there's no time like the present (we had to get one in) to pick out a new watch for yourself.

Congratulations are in order: Rihanna just accepted the 2017 Harvard University Humanitarian of the Year award, which recognizes "her work supporting education and health care in Caribbean and developing countries," per the university. Naturally, Rihanna took the stage looking ridiculously chic: She wore a straight-off-the-runway dress and matching thigh-high boots from Monse's fall 2017 collection.
As stellar as her outfit was, the main takeaway of the event was her inspiring speech—and rightly so. "People make it seem way too hard, man," she told the audience. "The truth is, and what I want the little girl watching those commercials to know, is you don't have to be rich to be a humanitarian...But it starts with your neighbor, the person right next to you, the person sitting next to you in class, the kid down the block in your neighborhood—you just do whatever you can to help in any way that you can." Who could possibly argue with that?

Given the authority that has is in the fashion world, even things that Anna Wintour just says in passing carry weight. For example, Wintour just gave her analysis of Milan Fashion Week F/W 17, as she does for every fashion week city every season. Wintour gave a glowing review of Alessandro Michele's fall collection for Gucci, saying that he's always "pushing the boundaries, trying to show us something different, and trying to inspire us". She mused that "There's so much product out there right now and what we need is fashion that's going to seem very emotional and make us dream—not just one more boring beige leather jacket." Our ears instantly perked up when we heard Wintour utter the word "boring". While the obvious takeaway of the video was her expert musings on the state of the fashion industry and the standout Milan shows, any time Wintour gives her thoughts on a specific piece, it's undoubtedly significant. Come to think of it, we'd be hard pressed to find photos of Wintour wearing any piece of boring outerwear.
Watch the video for yourself below and shop Gucci pieces that are anything but boring.
