How 11 It Girls Are Wearing Stripes for Summer 2017

Sure, gingham is shaping up to be the most ubiquitous print of summer '17, but ask any fashion girl, and she'll tell you: Stripes never go out of style. Whether they're preppy, regatta-ready navy-and-white stripes or a high-contrast black-and-red combo, they work for just about any wardrobe and won't look dated even years down the line.

And while stripes can be worn year-round, there's something inherently summery about the print—think of '50s-era Barbie in her black-and-white maillot or French sailors in their Breton shirts. With the weather warming up, we're finding ourselves drawn more and more to the parallel lines in our closets—and from the looks of it, we're not alone. In Cannes and elsewhere, It girls are taking the print for a spin, suiting up in stripes for the red carpet or just running errands in a classic sweater.

Below, see how stylish celebs like Jourdan Dunn, Olivia Palermo, and more are wearing our forever-favorite summer print.

Millennials Just Single-Handedly Set These 5 Bridal Trends

If we know anything about millennials these days, it’s that they are enamored by the internet and social media. In accordance with that, market trends today are shifting due to their online tendencies, including bridal trends. Katie Smith, senior fashion and retail market analyst at Edited, told us that “these days, couples are building their wedding experiences around social media–worthy outfits and events, which means there’s less focus and splurging out on just ‘the dress.’ Mass market retailers have capitalized on this demand by catering to a broad range of wedding types and personalities, providing not only affordable dresses but a whole bridal assortment online.”

“Data shows that buying a bridal outfit online is big business. More so because every wedding needs to be Instagram-worthy, and with numerous outfit switches during the day, brides would rather splurge on the multiday experiences than just ‘the dress,’” explained Kate. “In [the first quarter of] 2017, online sell-outs of bridal products were up 50% compared to a year ago, and mass market retailers play a successful part in it.”

This Under-$40 Dress Looks Good on Everyone—Here’s Why

What’s under $40, perfect for summer, and universally flattering? Our very own Who What Wear collection Embroidered Belted Bardot Dress ($35), that’s what. And, before you chalk this up to what could easily be mistaken as bias (after all, we did make it), let me extoll its virtues for a minute. Firstly, its off-the-shoulder nature leaves you with exposed collarbones, which we all know are one of a girl’s best assets. Next, the oversize short sleeves create a contrast with upper and lower arms, making them appear slimmer. And lastly, the attached belt lets you gather the dress at your waist, highlighting another major asset. To recap, the recipe for success here is:

  • exposed collarbones
  • oversize short sleeves
  • belted waist

For these reasons and more, Who What Wear girls everywhere have been making the dress their own and taking to Instagram to show it off. See the proof below, and then shop the dress, which (like our entire collection) comes in both straight and plus sizes.
