The Key to Keeping Your Ankles Strong in Heels

Glamour highlighted a study published in The International Journal of Clinical Practice that featured female aspiring flight attendants in South Korea who had to wear heels for training. According to the study, those students in their second and third year had stronger ankles than those in their first year, but oddly the ankles weakened by the senior year of the program (they developed worse balance over time). The lead in the study went on to explain that the ratio of strength between areas on the sides of the ankle to that in the front and back was off in the women wearing heels, which, according to The New York Times, messes with stability and balance.
