Gigi Hadid and Olivia Palermo Both Love This Boot Brand

Through our daily exploration of celebrity style, we do our best to identify every item our favorite stars are wearing, which makes it so much easier for all of us to re-create similar ensembles. What's even more fun is when get to discover new or lesser-known brands and see how celebs decide to style them.

Take Gigi Hadid, for example, who recently bundled up in a look that we learned a lot from after dissecting it. The model wore a Victoria Beckham striped coat, her very own Gigi x Tommy sweater, slashed-knee skinny jeans, a pair of Freda Salvador ankle boots and a Mansur Gavriel bag to top things off. We love how she let the cream sweater poke out from under the coat in all the right places. Plus, her ankle boots are from Palermo-loved brand Freda Salvador, so that gives this outfit double cool points. What's not to love?

The One Style Rule All Fashion Girls Follow

There is a preconceived notion going around that in order to create a striking outfit, you need to have a lot going on in your look, but we are here to tell you exactly the opposite. For whatever reason, our brains naturally tell us to avoid pairing pieces together of the same color—that anything other than a palette of multiple hues is somehow not as interesting. However, there are a handful of bloggers who are making a case for exactly the opposite.

This season, bloggers have been building their outfits around one shade at a time, resulting in some of the most eye-catching ensembles we have seen in a while. From blush to green, black to denim on denim, these women definitely have us convinced you can make a bold statement while rocking a monochromatic look. Hopefully they'll convince you too.

Shop the Romantic-Meets-Edgy Lace Top Our Editors Love

It's not often that we come across a romantic piece that easily gives off downtown-cool vibes as well, which is why did a double take when we spotted this black lacy top from Reformation. The sheer piece is an edgy departure from the ladylike lace finds we love, even with its fluttering cap-sleeve design, since it can easily be paired alongside leather pieces like a moto jacket.

While this top can be worn a multitude of ways, we are on board with styling it just as we see here for a cool black-on-black look. To re-create this you'll need four essential pieces: a black belt with metal hardware, a pair of black cropped jeans, black socks, and black patent oxfords. Since it's sheer, you can wear it with a simple bra for a racier take or a silk cami layered beneath for more coverage.

A Casual, Cool Way to Pull Off a Faux Fur Stole

When it comes to faux fur stoles dressier outfits are what immediately come to mind, but Sophi of the blog Capricorne proves that the textured accessory can look right at home with a casual look as well. The stylish blogger layered a faux fur stole over a cool denim-on-denim outfit that we can't wait to re-create this season, and the best part is we already have most of these pieces in our closet.

To try out this statement, laid-back outfit for yourself you will need to roundup a pair of chunky white sunglasses, a neutral faux fur stole, an oversized denim jacket, oatmeal-hued ribbed sweater, and an embroidered clutch for added texture. Complete the ensemble with a pair of jeans (we recommend a raw-hemmed pair) and suede ankle boots.

Freshen Up Your Over-the-Knee Boots With This Styling Trick

If we had to declare a boot style as the one biggest hit as of the past few months, we would easily say it's the over-the-knee boot. It feels like we can hardly go a day without spotting a style star in a pair, but we're totally okay with that. We are loving how many ridiculously good outfits our favorite celebs are wearing with the style. We understand why—they're totally seasonally appropriate, and throwing on a high-heeled pair makes you feel instantly glamorous.

Still, we worry about the look getting worn out. That's why in 2017 we're excited to see more creative over-the-knee-boot styling, rather than the typical skinny jeans combination or even the popular lampshading look.

Well, thanks to one major blogger, the inspiration begins right now. We recently spotted blogger Blair Eadie at a John Hardy event in an ensemble that styled the boots in a very unexpected way. She actually let the boots and a simple black miniskirt take the back seat to the rest of her outfit so that her Brandon Maxwell statement sleeve blouse could shine. She also added a forest Mansur Gavriel circle bag for a pop of color. If this outfit is any indication, over-the-knee boots are finally passing the peak of their trend and settling into being categorized as more of a wardrobe staple. We still love them, but we are definitely intrigued by where their styling will go come the New Year.

You'll Soon Be Seeing This Iconic Designer on U.S. Postage Stamps

In case you needed one more reason to look forward to the New Year, in 2017 you'll be able to send and receive mail with a stamp adorned in the iconic works of Oscar de la Renta. The United States Postal Service announced Wednesday that it will be celebrating the late designer, who passed away in 2014, by featuring him and his designs in a special edition pane of stamps, a part of its new series celebrating the people and cultural milestones that shape America's history.

De la Renta's career cemented him as one of America's most iconic fashion designers. He became especially embedded in the nation's historical fabric by becoming a favorite of first ladies Nancy Reagan, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Laura Bush, and was worn most recently by First Lady Michelle Obama. The 11 stamps feature close-ups of his signature designs—tightly cropped shots of voluminous taffeta and ornate florals in a bold array of bursting color. In addition to the detailed shots of his designs, the set includes a photographed portrait of Oscar de la Renta shot by Inez and Vinoodh.

It's not often that we witness fashion designers celebrated on such a platform, and its a beautiful homage to his artistry and work. And as we begin the New Year with thoughts of resolutions, there's never been a better excuse to take a break from technology to pen a handwritten letter.

Head to the comments to let us know what you think of the collection.

How to Coordinate Your Outfit With Your New Year's Eve Date

Figuring out what to wear to any old party can be stressful enough, but add in a hot date and a major holiday—New Year's Eve, of course—and you've got yourself a predicament. But don't fret: Dressing for the occasion should be fun, not taxing! To help you navigate NYE date dressing, we've taken some pointers from celebrity red carpet outfits.

Ciara and Russell Wilson, for instance, went the color-coordinated route (without being cheesy), whereas David and Victoria Beckham opted for matching looks in black power suits. Chrissy Teigen and John Legend both incorporated some texture into their date-night outfits, and Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi showed off how to dress up jeans with stylish jackets. Last but not least, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds proved you can't go wrong with the most classic color combo ever: black and white.

Kourtney Kardashian Totally Just Raided Kendall Jenner's Closet

We don't have to tell you what a force of nature the Kardashian-Jenner clan is in the fashion world. Though we tend to focus a lot of our attention here at Who What Wear particularly on Kendall (she is a major supermodel, after all), we know the rest of the sisters have a lot to offer in the style department as well, each with their own aesthetic.

This time around, it looks as though Kourtney Kardashian was emulating Kendall Jenner's go-to style when she recently stepped out for dinner—and we love how it turned out. Kardashian wore a luxe velvet coat from A.L.C., a white graphic band tee, the Gucci belt that every celeb has been lusting over lately, Mother crop-step jeans, and Stuart Weitzman velvet sock booties. The formula itself is quintessential KJ—cool outerwear, a T-shirt, jeans, and ankle boots. Whether she actually raided her sister's closet or not we may never know, but we love that this family isn't afraid to be sartorially inspired by one another. In this case, it totally paid off.

Don't End 2016 Without Buying This Piece

We know, it’s chilly. But one thing that’s sure to cheer you up is the coat trend that’s quickly taking over this season. Leopard print has remained popular among the style set, but this winter, especially, we’re seeing it pop up on many of the stars we turn to for outfit inspiration. From jet-setting in jeans and a cozy coat to a party look finished with a leopard-print blazer, consider the leopard coat similar to all your favorite basics. It may feel like an eye-catching choice, but since a statement coat is more of an accent to an outfit, it’s can easily be mixed and matched with your ensemble of choice.

So whether you’re looking for a fancy coat to add to your collection, or you need something to throw on over your weekend look, this is the only coat you need to step up your style game. Read on for a dose of inspiration, and then shop a few of our favorite leopard print coats right now.

The Engagement Ring Trend That's Going to Blow Up in 2017

From the cut to the color, every year there’s one ring style that stands out among the rest. Last year it was all about a vintage-inspired design, and this year, we reached out to the talented jeweler designer Jennie Kwon for her expert insight on the style that will be huge next year.

"Our rose-cut diamond rings have gained a ton of momentum throughout the year and we predict that this will continue in 2017," she said. "The couples we meet with are less concerned about carat size and something that's large andstatement-making in the traditional sense. Rose-cut diamonds speak to them because of their quiet brilliance and one-of-a-kind shapes. Each of our rings designed around a rose cut diamond is unique and brides-to-be appreciate the fact that their ring is theirs and theirs alone. They're different from your traditional brilliant-cut diamond while still having the permanence of a diamond."

So, if you’re planning on getting engaged and want an on-trend ring, opt for a beautiful rose-cut diamond. If you’re not sure what a rose-cut rock looks like, don’t sweat it, we’ve gathered the most stunning options on the market right now. See the proof below.

Jennifer Lopez Found the Perfect Post-Holiday Outfit

Much like dressing for every event and gathering the holiday brings, post-holiday dressing poses its own set of challenges. Unlike the former, for which we plan and set out outfits to meet every occasion, the latter usually remains an afterthought that surprises us once the holiday hubbub has died down. Typically the days following the holidays find us tired, full, and a bit stylistically uninspired. Apart from readying our New Year's Eve outfit, we're only really in the mood for something cozy and relaxed to get us through the remaining days before we return to the real world.

To meet these needs we can turn to Jennifer Lopez who recently demonstrated exactly how to put together the perfect post-holiday outfit. Lopez stepped out in wide-legged high-waisted pinstripe pants. The dramatic number made a statement while also providing the loose silhouette we crave as we recover from our holiday indulgences. Lopez paired back the trousers with a casual white pocket tee and cozied up with a long ivory knit sweater. In true J.Lo style, she amped up her ensemble with platform pumps and larger-than-life hoop earrings, but forgoing the accessories and sky-high shoes, this outfit could work just as effectively for a dressy event as it could for a casual outing.

Sneak Peek: Bella Hadid Teases Another Piece From Her Chrome Hearts Collab

Leave it to Bella Hadid to give après-ski attire a bad girl edge. Hitting the slopes in Aspen over the holidays, Hadid did away with ski lodge staples like knit beanies and fleece gaiters and opted instead for an eye-catching ensemble of luxe furs and patent leather that amped up the glamour. In two photos posted to Instagram she showed off one particularly out-there outfit comprised of a luxurious white fur coat paired with a glossy white leather biker cap—a piece from her highly anticipated collection with Chrome Hearts.

The standout piece features metal detailing and its shocking white colorway makes it delightfully retro, completely in tune with the leather jackets and edgy accessories the brand is known for as well as Hadid's personal '90s aesthetic. Vogue notes the fashion history of the biker cap, referencing Peter Lindbergh's 1991 story "Wild at Heart" featuring Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, and Linda Evangelista channeling Marlon Brando in leather caps and oversize jackets. In her first photo, Hadid notes that her remixed CH x Bella rendition will come in white, red, and black. Her second post links to the collaboration's Instagram page, which offers only two teaser posts but already garnered an impressive 8,000 followers.

Miranda Kerr Just Stepped Out in This Controversial Shoe

While some trends that aren't for everyone, there are certain fashion pieces are especially polarizing. One such style is the kitten heel, a decidedly retro silhouette that has been seeing a resurgence in popularity, despite the disdain of many. It was evident months ago that these widely disliked heels were making a comeback, and it looks as if Miranda Kerr is the latest fashion girl to get on board.

Touching down in Sydney, Australia, Kerr was seen sporting a classic black pair of kitten heels to finish off her casual styling of ripped skinny jeans and crop top accessorized with Saint Laurent sunglasses, belt, and handbag. The practical heels were a perfect choice for a day of international travel and gave just enough rise to elevate her laid-back look.

These Are the Trends Everyone Stopped Wearing in 2016

At times this year, it seemed like the world was more interested in what not to wear than what to wear. For instance, we covered the shoe trends to toss aside every season, the type of leggings no one is wearing anymore, and the denim that’s been eclipsed by more forward styles. For the purpose of highlighting the “over” trends that have made way for the most important trends of 2016, we went through our coverage of all the ones people stopped wearing in favor of new, fresher trends.

If you’re wondering what people will still be wearing in 2017, rest assured the trends everyone favored instead of the stale ones are still as cool as can be and will continue to be for the foreseeable future. But as soon as they’re no longer a thing, we’ll undoubtedly be the first to tell you.

The Fashion Items Our Readers Loved This Year

We’re doing a lot of reflection over here at Who What Wear headquarters. After all, that’s what you do at the end of a year, right? Especially one like 2016 when so much happened. Street style trends caught like wildfire, memorable moments went down during fashion week, and, the subject of today’s post, you bought a lot of fashionable items.

Because it’s a time of year where everyone’s already doing a little (okay, a lot) of shopping, we figured why not tap into the data and see precisely what products you, beloved readers, bought the most of. Some results weren’t shocking in the slightest, like Adidas’s Stan Smith sneakers. Others we didn’t expect to see make the list. Either way, it was a fun process, so much so that we pulled together the top 15 for you to shop in case you didn’t grab something the first time around.

Scroll down to shop the 15 most shopped items from 2016, and if you bought one tell us which piece in the comments.

Alessandra Ambrosio's Sweaterdress Has the Coolest Detail

Leave it to a supermodel to take an already established styling trend and make it something all her own. Remember lampshading? If you don't, it's the genius term Popsugar coined earlier this year to describe the practice of celebrities wearing broad hemlines (oversize sweatshirts, shirt dresses, etc.) with thigh-high boots, exposing just a bit of leg. Well, the styling trick is still going strong, because Alessandra Ambrosio just wore her own winter-friendly update.

While out in Los Angeles this week, the model wore an olive-toned sweaterdress from Romanian brand Concepto paired with Le Silla's nude suede over-the-knee-boots. Where Ambrosio winterized the concept, however, is by wearing a dress with a slightly longer hemline and boots that went even farther up her leg, skipping the skin-exposing portion of the trend in favor of covering up for warmth. Still, the silhouette fits the basic premise of the look, so we're going to call this lampshading 2.0.

As if updating a major trend wasn't enough, the sweaterdress she picked out had a unique detail. At first glance, we thought she was wearing a backpack, but it turns out that those straps are actually military-inspired leather belts sewn vertically onto the piece itself. Seriously, have you ever seen anything like that? We are so into this fresh update on old classics and can't wait to see which style boundaries she pushes next.

The One Thing No One Will Be Wearing This NYE

There are certain key items that seem to crop up at every New Year's Eve shindig year after year. You know what we're talking about—statement tops, metallic accessories, sparkly accents, and so on. While there's certainly nothing wrong with any of these items (hey, we'll totally be wearing many of these!), there are certain pieces that will be more forward than others this NYE.

When it comes to dresses, specifically, there's actually one style that used to be popular among the cool-girl set but most likely won't be anymore: body-con dresses. Sure, it's totally okay to wear one if you have an iteration you love, but with the movement toward looser, boxier silhouettes this year, super-tight frocks just aren't as forward as other styles.

Keep scrolling to check out celebs in stylish dresses for NYE inspiration. Plus, go a bit further to shop frocks that will be so IN this holiday season. We promise there's something for everybody to ring in the New Year in style.

Prediction: These Will Be THE Legging Looks of 2017

It’s no secret that leggings reigned supreme in 2016. Seriously. Everyone from Kendall Jenner to Bella Hadid to Selena Gomez stepped out in the stretchy pants. But these It girls didn’t just wear leggings to and from the gym like most of us probably have in seasons past, they reinvented the athleisure staple, pairing them with of-the-moment duster jackets, ankle boots, chunky sweaters, and everything in between.

While we all probably had a favorite celeb-approved leggings outfit formula last year (this editor adored the crop top, bomber jacket, and sneakers look, FYI), there are key looks that will be just as big (if not bigger!) coming ahead in 2017.

If you’re on the hunt for new legging outfit inspiration, go on to check out the new ways to wear the trend next year. Plus, go a bit further to shop some of our favorite leggings as well.

Did Zara Just Unveil the First Big Sneaker Trend of 2017?

While 2016's sneaker offerings were without a doubt more diverse than ever, stark white sneakers still reigned supreme. But 2017 is already shaping up to be even more of a mixed bag in the athletic footwear department. Case in point: While the bulk of Zara's merchandise is currently on sale, they do have a small section of new arrivals for S/S 17, and amidst the shoe section is a pair of midnight blue sateen sneakers. Sateen is a cotton fabric that's woven like satin, and satin happens to be the biggest shoe trend of spring 2017 (see here and here). It could even rival this fall's velvet trend in its popularity.

Intrigued by Zara's endorsement of the satin trend in the form of sneakers, we did a little digging and found a myriad of brands to also be on board with their own versions of satin kicks. Given the fancy vibe that satin lends to sporty sneakers, we think the new trend makes sneakers even more versatile than we already knew them to be.

Ready to rock what could be the first big sneaker trend of 2017? Keep scrolling to shop Zara's new sateen sneakers and a few of our other favorite satin iterations.

Not only does it signal this individual is having a moment worth mentioning, it’s also a platform to see new trends and clothing by the industry’s best designers. So, when the InStyle team shared with us that the February cover will feature none other than Gwyneth Paltrow, we knew that—in typical Gwyneth fashion—it would be superb.

Of course, she didn’t let us down. In the spread (written by Christopher Bagley) Paltrow wears a swath of incredible pieces, including Proenza Schouler’s memorable bold stripes from the S/S 17 runway, a jaw-dropping jacquard skirt by Loewe, and a little Prada and Dior for good measure.

Olivia Culpo's All-Leather Look Is Seriously Amazing

Though many of us are lucky enough to be enjoying some time off for the holidays right about now, it's going to be back to work in just a few days time. Because we're such fashion girls, though, that just means we have more outfit planning to get excited about! And we have new workwear inspiration fresh off the streets of New York for you, courtesy of style star Olivia Culpo.

We spotted her recently in an all-leather look we're just itching to try out. She wore a Linea Pelle leather jacket, a polka-dotted Magda Butrym blouse, J Brand leather pants with the coolest button details, Jimmy Choo pumps, and a studded Proenza Shouler bag (which is majorly on sale, by the way). The silky, long-sleeve top looks absolutely perfect to add a fun pattern to your office wardrobe. Granted, depending on your company culture, you might opt for a sleek pair of trousers over the more alluring leather pants, but the rest of the styling is pretty on point.

These Will Be the Top Purse Brands of 2017

Another wardrobe staple, Hermès's designs, like the Constance bag, are absolute investment pieces. According to The RealReal, "Again, the small crossbody is the bag to have right now. The resale price of this style has been increasing every year, and because it's such a classic style, it will definitely stand the test of time. In terms of supply, it's as hard to get as a Birkin. Eighty percent of our crossbody bags we got this year sold within a month!" It looks like the crossbody isn't going anywhere anytime soon, especially with gorgeous pieces like Hermès's Constance around.

This 23-Year-Old Designer Is Having a Major Moment

Her suits come in three fabrications (satin, viscose, and a '70s-inspired polyblend), and can be customized to fit your exact measurements. In Allie's world, there's no more of the ill-fitting suits so many women have experienced and are turned off by.

"Fit was always at the forefront of my mind—that was the big struggle for me trying to find a women's suit," Teilz recalls. "The main goals were designing a sizing system and ordering system where every body type could find something that accentuates their bodies. It's so important to me that any body type who wants to wear one of my suits feels sexy—there's nothing that matches the feeling of a well-fitted suit."

You Have to See Kanye West and Kim Kardashian's Family Christmas Card

The Kardashians have long since established themselves as the reigning family of epic Christmas cards. Over-the-top getups and dramatic poses are just a couple of the elements that go into the artistry of their annual family portraits. It looks as if Kanye West has gotten in on the longstanding Kardashian tradition. He showcased his ability to step up to the plate in the world of stylish family Christmas cards when earlier today he tweeted a lovely holiday snapshot with Kim Kardashian and their two children.

The relaxed nature of the family photo—sans professional lighting or a production team and possibly even shot on iPhone—brings a unique intimacy we don't often get a glimpse of when it comes to the Kardashian West clan. Though they're posed, it's obvious they simply took the opportunity to take advantage of Kris Jenner's impressively ornamented Christmas tree to be a backdrop for a cute family portrait. In many ways, the four of them posing is not so unlike the family Christmas cards we send and receive each year—apart from Kim's custom gilded Rodarte dress, North's custom Alexander Wang party number, baby Saint's miniature Yeezy Boost 350s.

Chrissy Teigen Knows the Easiest Way to Make Skinny Jeans Look Cool

Chrissy Teigen's arsenal of skinny jean outfits keeps expanding, as evidenced on repeat occasions as of late. The It girl wears them everywhere from date nights with her husband, John Legend, to errands with her daughter, Luna, to travel days at the airport. Whether she wears skinny jeans with a bodysuit, tee, or crop top, we've noticed that she often throws a long cardigan, trench, kimono, or robe coat over the outfit. It was the last item that expertly completed her most recent skinny jean look. Teigen created an ultra-slim line with her black tank, ripped skinny jeans, and sock boots, but what really took the outfit to the next level was her oversize striped robe coat. Fashion girls have proven time and again throughout 2016 that a long duster, kimono, or robe is the #1 piece to wear over skinny jeans if you want to look chic, polished, and cool.

Keep scrolling to see for yourself how perfect the partnership of skinny jeans and a robe or duster coat is, and shop her stylish look.

This Bag Style Was the Most Popular Christmas Gift

On Christmas morning this year, it turns out that many were surprised with a new bag in a very functional silhouette. In its annual list of Best Sellers, Amazon revealed that wallet-style bags topped the list of gifts for women. The two most purchased of the style were Fossil's Emma large zip wallet and Kate Spade New York's Cedar Street crossbody. Both bags boast a compact construction, fusing the functions of wallet and bag with the former acting as an oversize wallet and the latter acting as a small bag in a continental flap wallet silhouette.

The trend can be explained by the wallet-style bag's ability to meet both style and practical needs, making it a smart holiday gift. Its popularity can also be explained by its price point—this particular silhouette typically falls on the lower end of the spectrum for almost every brand. The gift also kills two birds in one, making it a perfect option for the recipient for whom you don't know is in need of a wallet or would prefer a new bag.

If you didn't get everything you wanted for Christmas, shop playful pouches, keychains, and wallets here.
