Every Woman Can Wear These Shoes

If you've ever seen a shoe trend and thought, I'm too old (or young) to wear those, you've come to the right place. We're not here to talk about the worst or best shoes for every age group. We're here to talk about the shoes that women of every age group can wear, from college to retirement. We narrowed it down to eight specific shoe styles—a mix of flats, heels, casual, and dressy picks—that any woman can wear and should have in her wardrobe.

While some of these shoe styles may seem a bit more like trends than classics (e.g., backless mules), we still find them to be quite worthy of an investment. They've stood the test of time and are sure to be around for seasons to come. As a bonus, every one of these shoe styles is quite comfortable (think sneakers and block-heel ankle boots). So without further ado…

Read on to find out which eight shoe styles can be worn by every woman, and shop our picks for each!

These Adidas Sneakers Are Being Called the Next Big Thing

When sneakerheads get as excited about something as they currently are about Adidas's newest launch, you know it's going to be huge. We couldn't help but notice that every single sneaker-centric site on the internet has posted about Adidas's Iniki Boost Runners as of late, so, naturally, we had to know more. According to Footwear News, these retro-inspired trainers are the next NMDs, which were undoubtedly the must-have style of 2016 (they're nearly impossible to find). And you won't have to wait long for what could be the It Adidas sneakers of 2017—they're on sale tomorrow, March 1.

The thing that sets the Iniki Runners apart from the many of the styles in Adidas's über-popular Originals line is that you can actually work out in these. According to the sneakers' description, "A classic runner gets a modern makeover with state-of-the-art cushioning." We've yet to encounter other sneakers that are as much fashion sneakers as they are athletic ones. These feature a gum sole (which adds to the vintage appeal) and spring-friendly colors (the men's version is available in more classic hues like navy, red, and gray).

Given the hype surrounding these new Adidas sneakers, we're predicting a swift sellout. As such, we recommend stalking them as soon as you wake up tomorrow morning so you don't miss out.

Leighton Meester's Go-To Legging Look Is Very Anti–Blair Waldorf

In just a few days, on March 5, Leighton Meester’s series Making History will debut on Fox, marking her biggest TV project since Gossip Girl went off the air in 2012. Despite the passing time, it’s not uncommon for us to still associate her with the Blair Waldorf role—and wardrobe—she made so iconic. While her new onscreen character (Deborah Revere, daughter of Paul) will have Meester in a wardrobe of corsets and pre-Revolutionary garb, make no mistake: Neither Waldorf nor Miss Revere is any real indication of the actress’s style. “This is really my everyday look,” she revealed to Who What Wear on the set of Bydie’s latest shoot, wearing an outfit of leggings, a tank top, and pink sneakers.

While Waldorf’s preppy Upper East Side style can still be considered a relevant fashion-world reference, Meester says that dressing the part didn’t change her own personal style—at all. “Kind of the opposite. Really what I wear every day and what makes me feel most comfortable and at my best are jeans, T-shirts and button-downs, sweaters, boots, and sneakers. I do have a couple of dresses I throw in there occasionally,” she says.

The star even goes on to claim, “There is no way to make heels more comfortable.” Her advice: “The only thing you can do is buy your shoes a little larger and get padding inside—that’s always nice.”

So what does the actress and singer really wear—when there’s no Chanel or 18th-century wardrobe necessary? “I just like simple black leggings with a fitted T-shirt or tank and my Nike sneakers,” she says. “My gut instinct with leggings is not to pair them with something tight on the top. But that’s actually a mistake because it looks nice to wear something tight on top, too. The L.A. look is very much to look like you’re always exercising.”

Below, check out some of the exclusive shots you won't see anywhere else from the legging-loving Meester, and read her complete interview over on Byrdie.

Everyone at Paris Fashion Week Is Freaking Out Over These Boots

Mesmerising isn't a word we often use to describe a pair of shoes, but there's no better way to describe the boots that came down the runway at Saint Laurent this week. For the brand's F/W 17 show, designer Anthony Vaccarello debuted his second collection for the famed Parisian house, and it was jam-packed with leather, shimmer, and shine. While the clothes were eye-catching all on their own, the slouchy pointed boots that made their way down the runway were major showstoppers.

In the past few years, we've seen ankle boots and over-the-knee styles win out over the midcalf boot, but taking cues from today's show, we just might be seeing a shift back very soon.

Read on to see the boots in action because they're a pretty awesome sight to behold. Then, shop current pieces from Saint Laurent!

This Actress Is Taking Over the Red Carpet

Actress Zoey Deutch may be busy earning buzz for her on-screen role in her upcoming film "Before I Fall." But at Who What Wear, we're equally excited by Deutch's sartorial choices IRL. On the red carpet, Zoey's sense of style, self-described as "elegant and classic juxtaposed with fancy," is just the breath of fresh air we love to see.

With the help of stylist Elizabeth Stewart, Zoey offers a new take on occasion dressing, endorsing fashion-insider brands like Monse as easily as she pulls off Prada or Valentino. And while her affinity for a little bit of sparkle is a red carpet win, we love that she can mix things up, swapping a minidress for a sharp suit. Clearly, Zoe is one to watch both sartorially and for her major acting chops. Curious to take a peek at her refreshing style?

Read on for a look at a few of our favorite red carpet looks from Zoey Deutch!

11 Trends Fashion Girls Refuse to Wear Anymore

Like plants, animals, stars, and even the leftovers in your fridge, trends too have a life cycle. They burst onto the scene and climb their way up the popularity bell curve, only to eventually peak and fade away as the new must-have comes around. Try as we might to hold on tight to certain favorites (there's a reason skinny jeans have lingered around so long), most styles hit their apex and are ready to be retired.

But with the clipping speed of fashion, what are the styles rising and fading right now? We tapped a few of our favorite women in fashion to reveal their picks for the coming months. The women below offer the pieces that they're done with, along with what they're adding to their closets instead. (And just remember, these are personal picks, so if you love something that they don't, that's okay—wear it anyway!) Armed with their ideas, you'll know exactly how to adjust your wardrobe for the coming months.

Emma Watson Wore the Prettiest Version of the Naked Dress

The countdown is officially on: the new Beauty and the Beast remake premieres on March 17. (But you probably already had it circled with a red pen on your calendar, right?) Emma Watson, who plays Belle, has kicked off her international press tour, which means we get to see stunning red carpet looks on a daily basis.

Her latest look was truly amazing: For the Shanghai premiere of the film, she donned a custom Elie Saab Couture dress with tulle and crepe georgette silk, which was a beautiful take on the naked dress trend. In a unique twist, the dress also came with a removable cape that took the gown to the next level. Plus, in keeping with her dedication to eco-friendly clothes, Watson's gown earned a stamp of approval from Eco-Age, a sustainability consultancy company. All in all, it was another home run from Watson.

How to Quit Shopping and Still Be Stylish

For anyone who has ever wondered how to give up shopping for Lent—or how to give up shopping for any reason—this one’s for you. While we obviously talk a great deal about what you should buy, we’re also firm believers that a shopping cleanse is one of the best ways to reinvigorate your style. It forces you to take stock of what you already have and use your creativity to find new ways to wear your existing wardrobe. Don’t ever think that taking a break from shopping will affect your style negatively. It will probably even improve it.

Before we get into the methods to help you give up shopping, the first step is taking on the task of cleaning out your closet for Lent. That way, before embarking on your shopping cleanse, you can take a final opportunity to make any purchases you actually need, e.g., a new pair of black sandals after your only other pair met their demise. This will help to ensure you don’t have to cheat during your shopping cleanse and fall into an unrecoverable shopping binge. Now that you know what the first step is, find out the rest of the methods to help you take a break from shopping below!

Did Topshop Just Make Ballerina Skinny Jeans a Thing?

Just when you thought ballet inspiration had already filtered into every possible category of your wardrobe (even sneakers), Topshop went and designed ballerina jeans (although the retailer refers to them as Tulle Hem and Tulle Skirt Jeans). Since the ballet trend first came to be a few seasons ago, tulle and ballet flats have become a common sight both in street style and among the inventory at Zara, H&M, Net-a-Porter, and a slew of other e-tailers. Now, the delicate trend is about to invade your denim collection, and we couldn't dream of a better type of invasion.

We recently spotted among Topshop's new arrivals tulle hem straight-leg jeans, tulle hem skinny jeans, and skinny jeans with a tulle skirt overlay. The latter two feature a semi-subtle black tulle that also gives the jeans an on-trend cropped flare quality, and the former features a black tulle skirt sewn into the jeans' waistband. The low-stretch jeans are available in a light, vintage-inspired wash and a slightly darker wash, ringing in at just $85 for the straight-leg jeans and $90 for the skinnies.

Given the popularity of the ballerina trend and the fact that Topshop sells a pair of jeans every 10 seconds (yes, really), we're guessing that these are going to be a hit and could even be the start of a very pretty denim trend.

Marni's Latest "Ugly" Shoe Trend Is a Polarizing One

While Oscar buzz was reaching its peak this weekend, an important fashion torch officially passed over in Milan. With Consuelo Castiglioni having stepped down just a few months ago, Marni presented its first runway show under the new direction of Francesco Risso. And true to Marni’s iconic offerings of floral motifs and pretty/ugly design, there were a few daring trends from the collection that are sure to polarize its fans during this new chapter for the brand, as well.

While Risso filled his pieces with bold colors and avant guarde shapes, with think one particular shoe silhouette will really divide the masses: the square-toed boot. In its latest iteration for Marni, the trend is made dramatic with an extra-wide and sharp square toe box.

In all, it's a shoe that might make for a nice complement to a more classically feminine outfit—as seen on the runway—or could be perfect for anyone looking for a more experimental footwear shape. But either way, we know this look will have people choosing a side: the yays or the nays.

Amal Clooney Is Already Wearing Fall's Biggest Boot Trend

Amal Clooney's ultra-polished maternity style has been on full display throughout the past week, including a breathtaking turn on the red carpet. Clooney is currently in Paris with husband George and is undoubtedly living up to the cities' chic standards. Clooney's latest look consisted of an embellished coat, black and white dress (her color combination of choice this week), and a directional shoe style that was all over the runways of the most recent NYFW: tall slouchy boots.

According to Footwear News, this is going to be fall's biggest shoe trend. They recently said, "The most dominant and directional women’s shoe trend during New York Fashion Week, which started on Feb. 8 and wrapped up yesterday, was the statement slouch boot, seen at such brands as Victoria Beckham, Oscar de la Renta and Yeezy." Clooney's slouchy tall black leather boots are right in keeping with that forecast. (That said, slouchy short boots are officially passé, so be sure to look for knee-high or over-the-knee iterations.)

With that, keep scrolling to see Amal Clooney's boots (and stylish outfit she wore with them), and shop tall slouchy boots that we love.

Every Fashion Girl Will Follow This Instagram Today

In this day and age, there are few holdouts in the fashion world to join the likes of Instagram. And one of the final brands standing without a verified account has finally joined the fray. While in the past, Céline fanatics were only able to double-tap images from fan accounts, today the brand launched its own verified Instagram. In true form, so far the account is an eclectic mix of slightly off-kilter images (including one of what presumably is a dog paw).

With Paris Fashion Week quickly approaching, the timing of the launch is sure to create pre-show buzz. And while, sadly, the brand has yet to join the ranks of brands available to shop online, joining social media is a sure step in the tech-friendly direction. So for any reader who is always on the lookout for Céline's next It bag, this is the account you'll want to have an eye on. Curious to take a look at Céline's new Instagram account? Kirsten Dunst's Go-To Pair of Black Heels Are 10 Years Old

Finding a pair of party heels is a challenge. And that's putting it lightly. So when you find ones you love, that can stay on your feet (sans blisters or pinching) for extended periods of time, you cherish them and wear them as often as possible. We can safely assume that’s the case when it comes to Kirsten Dunst’s black, ankle-strap Christian Lacroix stilettos that she’s been walking the red carpet in for nearly 10 years.

As Footwear News brought to our attention, the heels that the actress wore for last night’s Academy Awards were the same pair she wore in 2007 for the Met Gala. Not to mention, countless times in between. As an outsider, we can see how such a style is timeless—it’s black, has a pointed toe, and that thin ankle strap can make a world of difference when it comes to support. Plus, Dunst is a known fan of repeating red carpet outfits she loves. Clearly the lady cherishes the most special pieces in her closet, and we totally respect that.

See Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's First Red Carpet Maternity Look

Earlier this month, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley first announced that she was pregnant in the most supermodel way: With a bikini photo shoot on a gorgeous tropical beach. Ever since we heard the news, we've been anxious to see how her maternity style would develop, and now we have a new answer.

Her adorable baby bump made its debut on a major red carpet last night, when Huntington-Whiteley attended Vanity Fair's Oscars after-party. For the high-profile event, she chose a stunning silver gown and statement Nirav Modi diamond earrings. We love how the curve-hugging silhouette proudly showed off her baby bump, while the cold-shoulder sleeve was perfectly on-trend. All in all, it was a huge sartorial win for the mom-to-be.

This Surprising Shoe Style Is Poised to Make a Comeback

In a polished display of luxe leathers, soft silks, and cozy knits, Salvatore Ferragamo and designer Fulvio Rigoni presented the latest collection in Milan. And while the sleek clothes offered up workwear inspiration for the coming fall, it was the shoes that had everyone buzzing. Footwear design director Paul Andrew sent a range of stacked platform heels and booties down the runway, offering an instant reminder of the towering shoes of the early '00s.

But, thanks to Andrew's keen eye, the reinvented platform shoe held onto the femininity and sophistication we've seen in footwear in the past few seasons. Lace up details, and open fronts offer new twists on the classic ankle boot. So, if you're ready to once again embrace the platform, read on for a look, and shop current styles from Ferragamo!

Under $40: The Best Dresses for Spring Weather

What makes a great dress? If you ask us, there are multiple criteria. On its own, it should be special enough such that if you simply threw on your most simple shoes you’d look like you spent hours putting your outfit together. Meanwhile, it should also be versatile enough so that you can mix and match all your accessories and separates with it, creating a seemingly-entirely new outfit every time. Lastly, it should be flattering, seasonally-appropriate, and bonus points if you can tick affordable off the list, too. And, while it sounds like what I’ve just described is the unicorn of dresses, today, thanks to our namesake collection for Target, we’re actually bringing you 11 of them. That’s right: shop 11 spring-ready dresses under $40, that will make getting ready in the morning or for a night out easier than it’s ever been.

The One Street Style Trend That's So Important Right Now

We always look to the street style looks of fashion week to inform our awareness of the trends to be. While what's walking the runways is indicative of what will be hitting the stores next fall, what's in the streets reveals everything about now. This past fashion week circuit revealed one trend in particular that refused to be silenced—shirts, jackets, and accessories that sent a message in support of love, acceptance, and the recognition of human rights for all.

Paired with intricately printed pantsuits or satin embroidered track jackets, these bold pieces were a strong statement with every possible styling. Both political and empowering, these fashion girl staples emblazoned with words of activism were the most impactful trend to appear on the streets and front rows of fashion week.

See below for some of our favorite looks.

Did You Catch the Significant Detail on Emma Stone's Oscars Look?

There's no denying the fashion looks that took over the red carpet at tonight's 89th annual Academy Awards made a statement—but some sent a message beyond their sartorial stylings. Along with donning gorgeous gowns, some of our favorite leading ladies accessorized their elegant ensembles with details that sent a message. Ruth Negga, Karlie Kloss, and Busy Philipps prominently sported blue ribbons in support of ACLUon their Valentino, Stella McCartney, and Elizabeth Kennedy dresses, respectively.

Emma Stone, who could be winning her first Oscar tonight for La La Land, stunned in a gold Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci dress. But it's the small detail worn right near her heart that has us talking. Stone bore a gold Planned Parenthood pin just below the strap of her gown, showing her support for the organization. The subtle but powerful accessory quietly demonstrated her solidarity during an important time.

The Actress With the Most Daring Dress-and-Shoe Combo at the Oscars

Tonight at the 89th annual Academy Awards, Naomie Harris, who is nominated this year for her role in Moonlight, stepped out in what is now Raf Simmons’s first official red carpet moment in his role as the new chief creative officer at fashion house Calvin Klein. What a way to begin, with Harris sweeping everyone off their feet in a midi-length, sequined, and strapless white dress with a floor-length train. Aside from the unexpected color, proportion play, cool cutout, and on-point fit, what really wowed us about Harris’s look was actually her shoes. Not only were the two-strapped yellow sandals the perfect pop of color to complement the dress, but also, the mismatched embellishments on the straps of each shoe have us planning our next DIY!

The Biggest Accessory Trend at the Oscars Isn't What You'd Think

What do Ruth Negga, Busy Philipps, and Karlie Kloss all have in common? Besides wow-ing us with their gowns on the Oscars red carpet tonight (in Valentino, Elizabeth Kennedy, and Stella McCartney, respectively) the three starlets also took the opportunity to use the award show as a platform for bringing attention to an organization that matters to them: the ACLU. The ladies (plus more attendees) all sported blue ribbons on their dresses in order to show support for the American Civil Liberties Union, which seeks to ensure civil rights and liberties for all. If you ask us, while we swooned over Ruth’s headpiece, Busy’s statement earrings, and Karlie’s glistening choker, the ribbon was the night’s standout accessory.

How Missoni Brought The Women’s March to Milan Fashion Week

Anyone who’s been watching the runways from New York to Milan this season can attest to the fact that powerful messages have been woven into nearly every fashion moment. Be it white bandanas that symbolically tie us all together to “Fashion Stands With Planned Parenthood” pins that get the message across more directly. But for the Missoni runway yesterday, the Italian fashion family opted to put on its own Women’s March, pink hats and all.

It’s actually so very fitting for Missoni, a brand with such a long linage of powerful, creative women at its helm, to close its show with a message that supports female empowerment and equality everywhere. And alongside the label’s iconic colorful zig zags, stripes, and plaids—modeled by the likes of Gigi Hadid, Dilone, Jamie Bochert, and other of-the-moment models—the final walk was clad entirely in pink pussy-earred hats. And to encourage support for the movement, guests were also greeted with the Missoni-knit hats at their seats, as well.

Scroll down to see some of the standout moments from the show-turned-march that took place in Milan but can be supported from every corner of the globe.

The Only 3 Sneakers Kendall Jenner Is Wearing This Month

There are certain tried-and-true staples of the It-girl wardrobe—especially when it comes to footwear. Sneakers and ankle boots (not to mention the occasional out-of-left-field silhouette) are mainstays of this fashion formula. The former has long been a fashion girl favorite no matter the occasion.

Kendall Jenner is one It girl in particular who has always endorsed the sneaker to finish off any ensemble, most recently demonstrated by her wearing barely any other shoe style during this latest fashion week circuit. Her love for the casual shoe is hardly a secret as she's been wearing them non-stop, pairing sneakers with everything from tweed mini two-pieces to tracksuits topped with fur. Despite the pragmatism of her fashion week shoe game when rushing around from show to show, there’s no denying her propensity for sneakers perfectly plays to the streetwear look currently on trend.

Calling It: These 9 Items Are About to Take Over the Fashion World

Fashion week (month) has many exciting facets to it including parties and runway shows, but our favorite part has to be seeing what the editors and bloggers wear to attend each. In a way, street style shapes the way we dress almost as much as the new collections storming down the runways do. Maybe it's because it seems more accessible seeing certain trends on real people, or maybe it's because the photos themselves make you want to jump out of your skin with excitement, either way, there is no denying the power of street style and the persuasion that the women in the clothes at hand have over our wardrobes.

So far this season, to no surprise of course, some of the world's favorite fashion bloggers dressed to impress as they graced the streets of New York, London, and Milan. Since this stylish set already has such a huge influence on how the fashion community dresses (hence the word "influencers"), it will come as no surprise if the items they wore the most end up blowing up in the coming months. Ahead, find out which trends and items bloggers took a liking to at fashion week because trust us when we say this roundup will be all everyone can talk about in no time at all.

Go on to find out which items are about to take over the fashion world thanks to some of the most stylish bloggers.
