As much as I'd like to look like Anita Pallenberg in one of her swooping floppy-brim hats or kicky fedoras, I've simply never been much of a hat person. But this summer, I've been inspired to give the accessory another shot, in part because, well, they're actually pretty practical and also because every fashion person I follow on Instagram seems to have a killer sun-hat collection.
From the beaches of Biarritz to the Cayman Islands, woven straw and sisal hats make even the plainest of beach outfits look a little more considered. And unlike beach jewelry—another major trend on the 'gram this summer—they also serve a purpose in protecting your face from harsh UV rays. Opt for a dramatic wide-brim version for lounging around on a chaise all day, or pick something a little narrower for exploring a new town.
Below, see how six bloggers wore their sun hats on holiday this summer, and shop our favorite styles from luxury milliners and mall stores alike.
