What do you get when you mix a beautiful opera venue in Rome, a renowned Italian fashion house, and one of the most talented female directors in Hollywood? A new incarnation of Giuseppe Verdi's La Traviata directed by Sofia Coppola with costumes by Valentino, of course.
The stylish spectacle debuted at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma over the weekend, and the result was just as glamorous as you'd expect. Valentino Garavani himself dreamed up the costumes, along with his protégés Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli. The performance also marked Coppola's first operatic venture.
If you find yourself in Rome in the next several weeks, you're in luck: La Traviata will be playing until June 30.
