Whether you fully understand why, there is no denying the fact that women are obsessed with leggings of all kinds. Even if you don't consider yourself a workout connoisseur, surely you enjoy lounging or running errands in the comfortable and versatile athleisure staple. Plain black leggings can be found, for the most part, all over the world, but what about the niche legging trends we so often investigate here on Who What Wear? We're talking about the legging styles that aren't necessarily for everyone—the controversial ones. So who are they for? Who is looking to buy into these more obscure legging trends? Where are they from? Are certain trends more popular in one country versus another?
In an effort to find the answers to the above questions, we utilized the Google Trends tool to specifically figure out which countries are searching for these different controversial legging trends the most. Below, we have broken down each polarizing trend into categories and included a graph that not only shows which countries each trend is most popular in but that also illustrates when each trend was the most popular over a 12-month period. According to Google Trends, "values are calculated on a scale from 0 to 100, where 100 is the location with the most popularity as a fraction of total searches in that location, a value of 50 indicates a location which is half as popular, and a value of 0 indicates a location where the term was less than 1% as popular as the peak."
What did we learn? That ladies in the United Kingdom love them some leggings—no matter what kind—that there is a dire need for nude leggings in India, and so much more.
