Joan Smalls Made Hot Pants Look Chic at Bottega Veneta

For Bottega Veneta’s SS16 collection, creative director Tomas Maier looked to the outdoors for inspiration. “For me, being outside is the number one thing,” he wrote in the show notes. “The more I can get out of an urban environment, the better it gets.” The proof is in the collection, which reimagined the camouflage print, incorporated hiking rope and drawstring pulls, and had the models rocking sandals you can truly trek in. Of course, we were particularly partial to Joan Smalls’ look: hot pants that—while not practical for daily life—have us dreaming about our next warm weather adventure.
