Change is the name of the game in the magazine world right now. Just four days ago, Graydon Carter announced that he was stepping down from Vanity Fair after 25 years. Now, The Cut reports that Elle's editor in chief, Robbie Myers, is departing her title after 17 years at the helm.
So why is she hanging up her hat right now? The Cut obtained Myers's email to employees, in which she explained her reasoning: "I want to spend the next seasons as available to my children as I can be, and so I take my leave of Elle now: a magazine, a website, a brand, and above all an idea of how a modern woman might move through the world with all of the passion and authority she deserves; an idea all of you have helped build into a powerhouse over these last 17 years." She wrote that her daughter is leaving for college next year, and her 15-year-old son will soon follow, so she wants to spend more time with them now.
