The New Sneakers a Nike Exec Calls "Mind-Blowing"

So Nike is having a moment. Last month the brand launched its collaboration with A.L.C. on a collection of the It-girl favorite Cortez sneakers, which only solidified our love for Nike. It's safe to say that now whenever the brand releases a new take on any of its classic sneaker styles, we're here for it. but Nike isn't just looking to impress the fashion set, they've laid down some serious goals to increase their impact on customers while minimizing their environmental impact, which many brands have proven is a near impossible feat.

Nike announced it's latest endeavor: Flyleather, a high-tech "super material" made from recycled scraps of leather that will help Nike make major strides towards its sustainability goals. "We’ve just had our minds blown about what we can do with this and the impact it can have," Nike chief sustainability officer and VP of innovation Hannah Jones said to Business of Fashion. “How often do you manage to get sustainable, performance and aesthetic in one go?” Jones continues. “If you were running a portfolio of startups, this would be your unicorn.”

Prep your wallets: Flyleather will be used to remake a limited edition series of the brand's best-selling sneaker styles like Air Force 1, Air Max 90, Cortez and Jordan 1. Keep a lookout for Nike's new Flyleather sneakers available in the coming weeks and scroll down to shop current Nike sneakers.
